Our History

VORHA ( Volunteer for Rural Health & Action ) was first established in the year 1992 , 28 years back , on 18 June. We have been in the service of people since then , started from humbly yet ambitious two room office at Lamding Nashikhong Leikai , Wangjing , Thoubal District , Manipur , 27 Kms from Imphal city.

For the record , the office is now shifted to Salt Village , Khongjom , 6 Kms away from the previous old office.

Seeing the deep difference in the standard of living of people between rich in the cities and small town and poor in villages and hills , now General Secretary , Shri Nahakpam Babulin started working for the people in the rural areas in the field of Health , Education and general well being of people by establishing many skill development programme like Computer and Type Writing , Weaving Centres , Mobile Dispensary , Day Care of Old People , Providing free education to orphaned and destitute , etc . Thats how VORHA was established to cater the human services in rural areas , since a long time , esp at the time when there was huge gap between riches and poor and when government health service were not even properly available at rural hill areas.

It was one of the few non-profit organizations which started serving for the people , when it was first established in Manipur , esp in Thoubal district. Now , it has served in the adjacent districts of Thoubal - Kakching , Tengoupal , Chandel. Since the organization's head office is in Thoubal district , most of the projects are confined to Thoubal district .

Since the inception , we have mainly focused on educated youth of rural areas to volunteer in our projects , in that way , they were train at the same time by involving in projects like Computer & Type typing , Weaving , Furniture in the areas of Pallel , Chandel , Wangjing.

Through our projects , we have reached out to more than one lakh people till date , more that five thousands people have directly benefited from our projects and programmes.

We've consistently grown since then, all thanks to the helping hands of this amazing community .

Now , VORHA is currently running a Senior Citizen Home at its office headquarter office at Salt Village, Khongjom , where more than 25 elderly are taken care in daily basis by providing food , shelter and recreational facilities. the campus is covered under 24 hours CCTV surveillance.
